Overnight Market Brief – 20 December 2021

US stocks came under pressure again in Friday’s volatile session amid worries about tighter monetary policy and the ongoing pandemic, leading to a losing week for the major averages. Expectations of tapering and rate hikes in the coming year have started hurting frothier parts of the market. The MSCI World Growth Index of shares that show stronger earnings growth is down slightly this month, while its value counterpart of cheaper stocks have jumped nearly 5%. The Fed confirmed its hawkish turn last week, while the BOE and Norges both hiked.
